Graduate Scholarships
PRIDE SCHOLARSHIPS
Graduate student-athletes entering from outside of Clarke will receive $1,000 athletic scholarship for the academic year. Clarke student-athlete alumni going directly into the graduate program receive 20% off tuition (not fees) per semester. Graduate students must be enrolled in 9 graduate credits a semester to be athletically eligible.
GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS (GAS)
Graduate assistants must be full-time as determined by their program track. GAs will receive 50% off tuition for their full credit load each fall and spring term (not summer term) for a maximum of 2 years. GAs will receive a $5,200 stipend per year. GAs in positions that are classified as supervisory in nature will not be allowed to participate in undergraduate activities as participants. They may be involved as advisors to undergraduate groups. Pride Scholarships and GA benefits cannot be stacked.
BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP
Employees at one of Clarke’s Business Partners are eligible for this award. The Business Partnership Scholarship is not stacked on the Pride Scholarship or GA Award. There is a 10% tuition discount on the BAS and graduate programs (master’s only) to employees of partner organizations. The Business Partnership Scholarship is renewable annually for dependent children of employees who are full-time undergraduate students. This may not be combined with Legacy or CARES scholarships.
CLARKE ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS
Clarke University offers endowed scholarships for Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), Master of Arts in Education (MAE), and Master of Social Work (MSW) students. Contact the Financial Aid Office with any questions you may have about Clarke’s endowed scholarships for graduate students.
Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)
Ruth Powers Doctorate of Physical Therapy Endowed Scholarship
Eligibility:
- Preference given to a full-time DPT student enrolled at the time of application (i.e. not open to new DPT students)
- Be registered at Clarke University as a full-time DPT graduate student who:
- Has a GPA of 3.4 or above
- Has a serious desire to complete her/his education and earn a degree
- Has financial need
- Has a reputation and character that would be a credit to Clarke University
Application Details:
- Typically 2-3 current DPT students are selected for this award each year.
- Application will be available each year in early spring. The Physical Therapy department will send an email notification with application instructions/materials.

Ruth Powers Endowed Scholarship for Graduate Education
Qualified Graduate Programs; DNP, MAE, MBA, MSW
Typically, this scholarship is awarded to 2-3 applicants a year
Eligibility:
- Current Clarke graduate students who are enrolled full-time who hold a GPA of 3.0 or above OR incoming full-time students must be accepted into a graduate program at Clarke University by April 1
- Applicants must show financial need for the scholarship as evidenced by completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Applicant must not work for an organization that provides tuition/education benefits.
Preference will be given to applicants who:
- Demonstrate a commitment to principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Who may belong to one or more groups that have traditionally been underrepresented in their field of study.
Application Details:
- To apply for this scholarship, applicants must provide a personal statement (300 words max) addressing your commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Application opens February 1
- Application deadline is April 1
- Determination date is April 15

Joel Ostola Scholarship
Eligibility:
- Applicant must be a full time 1st year DPT Clarke University Physical Therapy Student in good standing in the professional phase of the Physical Therapy Program (i.e. not open to new DPT students)
- Applicant must show financial need for the scholarship as evidenced by completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. If you file a FAFSA, you can apply.
- Those who established this scholarship were dedicated to enabling minority students to join the ranks of physical therapists. If no such minority student qualifies, the scholarship will be awarded to another candidate.

- Typically awarded to one recipient per year
- Application will be available each year in early spring. The Physical Therapy department will send an email notification with application instructions/materials.

Marilynn Ott-Ratay Scholarship
Eligibility:
- Applicant must be a 2nd year DPT Student in the Clarke University Physical Therapy Program in good standing.
- Applicant must show excellence with the Physical Therapy Program with significant potential to contribute to the profession either academically or clinically.
- Applicant must have a reputation and character that is a credit to Clarke University.
- Applicant must show financial need for the scholarship as evidenced by completion of the Renewal Free Application for Federal Student Aid. If you file a FAFSA, you may apply.
Application Details:
- Typically awarded to one recipient per year
- Application will be available each year in early spring. The Physical Therapy department will send an email notification with application instructions/materials.
- Application Deadline: Early February

Master of Social Work (MSW)
Patricia McKevitt Social Work Scholarship
Eligibility:
- Student must have been accepted to the MSW program to apply for this scholarship.
- The recipient must be enrolled in specialized practice-year course in the Master of Social Work program.
- The recipient must have a need for financial assistance.
- The recipient must demonstrate a commitment to social justice and underserved and minority populations through community involvement and/or volunteer activities.
- The recipient must express an interest in and dedication to working with underserved and minority populations in the U.S. (or abroad) after graduation.
- Students interested in pursuing private practice are not eligible for the scholarship.
- Recipient(s) will be asked to write an essay to apply for the scholarship.
Application Details:
- Typically awarded to up to 2 recipients per year
- Application and instructions will be available in February. The Social Work Department will send an email notification with application instructions/materials.
- Application deadline will be communicated in application instructions. Typically, the deadline is in late February.
